As I am sure will soon become evident with the material I post, I have what some might call an obsession with hair. More specifically the tendrils that are always present in my work. They have enveloped me now to the point where the addition of these loose strands of hair happen almost unconsciously.

If your masterful rendering of hair is unconscious, then you must have a really, really fantastic instinct for it. I love the tendrils and how they seem so soft and effortlessly created. Just beautiful.

I love your subtle shadows and her wonderful expression. I also have this feeling I'll be fav'ing just about everything you do.

Do you work from a model or source material?

I sure wish you'd share your mediums. :) I am catching onto the hair thing, and you certainly do have a flare for it. I am very drawn to the soft use of cool colors in the face, particularly under the eyebrow. You certainly have a grasp on the fundamentals of color theory of which I am currently struggling to comprehend.

Thank you for the kind words. I am hoping this site, and all the other wonderful artist I see on here will encourage me to do some more traditional work. It seems I spend too many days designing with a mouse in my hand, and not enough drawing or painting anymore. (something I am working on changing.)

As for your question... I work from Both models, and source material, but in the end it is always easier to shoot some photos, and head back to the studio with them. Plus I also tend to work late into the evenings, so most models rather not stay up all night while I work.
It is very amazing. Was it painted with Oils? You should definately spend less time on a computer and more time on the Traditional art.
wow!!! this painting is amazing. i love the hair. great job
this is very beautiful.
Since I joined DA I have been painting more at my easel and desk.
It was just too easy to open Photoshop and create new images but it didn't satisfy me the same way painting does. For me the challenges in painting are so much greater than with the pc ,and so more satisfying.
welcome to DA!
hair is lovely, i can see hwy you paint it.
I, too, am obsessed with hair. :+favlove:
This work is really amazing. You rendered every little detail of her body, still she's on the main focus with her great expression. And the hair... :wow: What did you use to paint that - acrylics? watercolours? I'd love to know and I just cant tell just by looking :)
